DESCRIPTION:Overview\nX-ray Free-Electron Lasers (XFELs) offer state-of-th
 e-art capabilities for experimental research with X-rays. Modern theory an
 d simulations play an essential role here - not only in explaining experim
 ental observations but also in generating new ideas for designing future e
 xperiments. The aim of the workshop series “Theory meets XFELs” is to 
 foster collaborations between theorists and experimentalists engaged in re
 search with XFELs. This year's workshop is dedicated to recent theoretical
  developments in the fields of\n\nExtreme states of matter – From planet
 ary science to inertial fusion energy research\nStrong-field phenomena –
  Nonlinear x-ray – matter interaction and spectroscopy\nUltrafast spin d
 ynamics – Magnetism\, transport and topological effects\nUltrafast elect
 ron dynamics – Towards attosecond solid state physics \nUltrafast struc
 tural dynamics – Phase transitions and lattice dynamics\n\nand is comple
 mented by excellent examples of experimental applications of XFELs in thes
 e fields.\nThe two-and-a-half-day workshop will feature 20 invited talks a
 nd will be held in two locations:November 26 at the European XFEL\, Schene
 feld\, November 27-28 at CFEL/DESY\, Hamburg.Registration open: 01 June
